PURE CHAMPION had his first start of his two year old career in May winning by over two lengths with the evens favourite struggling to keep on terms. He was stepped up to campaign in Group company throughout his three year old career and he continued to impress when winning the Ruby Stakes (Listed) before going on to show further improvement to take the Solonaway Stakes (Group 3) with fellow Hong Kong rival DESTINED FOR GLORY in second. It was after this win that he was purchased by Paulene Cruz to join A S Cruz's Hong Kong stable.

PURE CHAMPION entered the three week quarantine on the 8th October 2010 and was exported to Hong Kong on the 29th October 2010 by BBA Shipping & Transport Ltd.

His debut came at the start of the 2011 Hong Kong season. He continued to show huge potential when finishing second in the Jockey Club Cup (Group 2) at Sha Tin in November 2011. This good run of form carried on to the 2012 season where he started off the season by winning the January Cup (Group 3) at Happy Valley. The 2012 season also finished strongly for the A S Cruz stable stalwart who finished third in the Jockey Club Mile (Group 2) behind long standing rivals GLORIOUS DAYS and AMBITIOUS DRAGON. The six year old entire continues to tread a successful path, he showed a keen turn of foot to win the Centenary Vase (Group 3) at the beginning of February 2013, in which he beat stablemate BEAUTY LEAD. His latest start saw him beaten into second in the Hong Kong Gold Cup (Group 1) by MILITARY ATTACK.

PURE CHAMPION continues his Hong Kong career with the exuberance of which he started. He continues to fly the flag for the Cruz stable and the 2013 season seems full of opportunity for this six year old. We look forward to watching his progress throughout the season.
